So, this piece started out being my thoughts on solitude, but my beloved pointed out how nature-oriented this all was and came up with the title Mother Nature.
Anyway, I am experimenting and trying to discover how to develop my personal style. I was really inspired by 's use of textures and wanted to give it a try. I also really love Mehndi and Slavic designs (partly due to my heritage) and wanted to incorporate them to make the piece more personal. And of course, I always love the texture of drawings, so I tried to keep the original graphite-drawn lines intact.
Thanks for looking!
Medium: graphite-drawing base; photoshop, home-made textures with a couple sprinkled in from webtreats
I love this piece. And you can see the Kidchan influence, but in a really individual, authentic way. I want to do a few pieces like that, myself. Seriously, I think this is beautiful.
When art work is stunning yet engenders serenity simultaneously, then I am captivated to look for details. The femenine symbolism is pervasive and the colors are almost muted save for the water. An interesting combintation. The egg shape behind her and the window to the astral space behind have connotations of mother or birth in a spiritual sense and yet all is connected by the water. Water is often sympobollic of emotions or flow of time. Here it seems to be both---I love the connectivity. Again I think that is unique. And unique is the ultimate goal of the artist. The message should be a close second. Sensuality and Strength are the two things that popped in my head at first glance. I have always found in my writing that a part of me is exposed somehow and this piece I think reveals you as well. Very cool. ~J
Thanks for the in-depth analysis I'm glad you chose this one - it's probably my favorite at the moment on my personal work. I really want to do more of these types of work. I have another on the way, but I have had to leave it on the back-burner due to other priorities. Again, though, I really appreciate the thought behind the comment. It gives me a great insight into what other people think of the work and how they are relating to it
